Looking to the future of Agri-Food in Northern Ireland

The Independent Strategic Review of the NI Agri-Food Sector (ISRAF) report has been released. The review was commissioned by both the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and the Department for the Economy and led by Sir Peter Kendall who was supported by Birnie Consultancy’s Managing Director Dr Jonathan Birnie alongside Julie Robinson (Former chief legal advisor of the NFU in England & Wales), and Dr. Clive Black (Head of Research at Shore Capital Markets and Chair of the Institute of Global Food Security’s Industry Advisory Board).

Speaking on the publication of the review, Dr Birnie said:

“It was an honour to be included by Sir Peter Kendall as part of the team working on the ISRAF report. It was clear from our wide consultations with the Agri-Food industry that there is a determination to drive the sector forward within Northern Ireland. It is my hope that our outcomes will result in actions which ensure a bright future for the businesses and organisations involved.”

While they are considering the report, Minsters Poots and Lyons have asked to send in their views on the report to israf@daera-ni.gov.uk
