2021 a bumper year for Birnie Consultancy

2021 was an unprecedented year for the team here at Birnie Consultancy, getting to work with a range of brilliant brands.

We got to work with Prof. John Gilliland OBE DSc from Devenish and Jason Rankin from AgriSearch on the amazing ARCZeroNI project, a European Innovation Partnership project made up of a co-operative of 7 farms in Northern Ireland seeking to measure and manage carbon flows at the individual farm level to empower farmers to make positive change towards carbon zero farming.

Alongside Cliona Howie del Río, Jago Pearson and Greta Delfino among others, we helped establish the fantastic Foundation Earth an independent, non-profit organisation established to issue front-of-pack environmental scores on food products, enabling consumers to make more sustainable buying choices.

We've produced an agriculture strategy for Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and reports for both World Wildlife Fund and NORTHERN IRELAND FOOD & DRINK ASSOCIATION LTD. which will all be published in the new year.

Our managing director, Jonathan Birnie worked on the Independent Strategic Review of the Northern Ireland Agri-Food Sector (ISRAF) which was led by former NFU President Sir Peter Kendall and included Julie Robinson (Former chief legal advisor of the NFU in England & Wales), and Dr. Clive Black (Head of Research at Shore Capital Markets and Chair of the Institute of Global Food Security’s Industry Advisory Board).

And those are just the highlights. We also worked alongside WRAP, Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute, Morrisons, Invest Northern Ireland and helped establish a food network network with Local Enterprise Office Kildare.

The team is looking forward to another big year in 2022, and if you'd like to get more information on the company, check out birnieconsultancy.com
