Birnie team help relaunch Food Heartland

Ashley Hassin (Birnie Consultancy), Dr Jonathan Birnie (Birnie Consultancy), Lord Mayor Paul Greenfield (Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council), Prof Chris Elliott and Roger Wilson (Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council) at the first meeting of the evolved Food Heartland.

Since the launch of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Agriculture Strategy in 2022, the team from Birnie Consultancy has been working closely with Council staff to help deliver on the recommendations.

The first recommendation was to ‘Expand and evolve the Food Heartland’ to include the agriculture sector and provide better collaboration between businesses.

To this extent, Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre welcomed food and agriculture businesses on Tues 7 Feb to the first Food Heartland Network meeting with a focus on building economic and environmental sustainability across the local supply chain.

As well as an interactive session from Birnie Consultancy staff, Professor Christopher Elliott OBE gave an interesting and inspiring talk.

Birnie staff will be continuing to work with Council officers to deliver a series of networking opportunities for the local industry as well as delivering on other recommendations from the strategy.
